This Privacy Policy describes how Prolaxies Ltd. (Company Number: 15592176) (the “Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information in connection with the FoodSpecs mobile application (the “App”). We are committed to protecting your privacy by minimizing the data we collect and maximizing local storage.
1. Information We Collect
We collect only the essential information necessary for account functionality, support, and basic personalization.
A. Information Collected via Google Sign-In
When you choose to log in to the App using Google Sign-In, we collect the following basic profile information:
- Name: Collected to personalize your experience within the App.
- Email Address: Used for account identification, recovery, and communication regarding the App.
- Google Profile Picture URL: Collected and displayed as your user profile image within the App.
B. Feedback and Support Data
If you voluntarily send bug reports, feature requests, or general feedback via email, we collect your email address and the content of your message to respond to your inquiry and improve the App.
2. How We Use Information
We use the information collected solely for the following purposes:
- Authentication: To verify your identity and allow you to access your account.
- Personalization: To display your name and profile picture within the App.
- Communication: To respond to your support and feedback inquiries.
- App Improvement: To analyze user feedback and improve the features and functionality of the App.
3. Data Storage and Processing
A. Local Storage of User Activity (Chat History)
The FoodSpecs app features an AI Chatbot. The conversation history with this chatbot is stored locally on your device using shared preferences.
- This data is not transmitted to our servers, is not collected by us, and is not shared with any third-party services.
- If you uninstall the App, clear the App’s data, or switch devices, this locally stored chat history will be deleted and not recoverable by us.
B. User-Generated Content (Save to Gallery)
The App provides a “Save to Gallery” button which takes a screenshot of a food’s details page (specs page) and saves it to your device’s local photo gallery.
- This action is performed entirely on your device.
- We do not access, collect, transmit, or store the image or the content of the screenshot.
C. AI Service Processing (Microsoft Azure)
The App utilizes Artificial Intelligence (AI) services to perform food recognition and generate chatbot responses. These AI services are provided by Microsoft Azure.
- Any image data or text input you provide to the AI functionality is sent to and processed by Microsoft Azure to generate the requested output.
- Prolaxies Ltd. configures these services to minimize data retention. As per our configuration, Microsoft Azure does not use your prompts or completions (chat inputs/responses) or image data to train or improve their foundational models. This data is processed only to provide the specific service you requested.
D. Data Retention
We retain the Google Sign-In information (Name, Email, Profile Pic) for as long as your FoodSpecs account is active. If you delete your account, this information will be deleted from our records.
4. Sharing of Information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information with third parties. We only share your data in the following limited circumstances:
- Service Providers: We use third-party services (such as Microsoft Azure for AI and cloud infrastructure providers) that assist us in operating the App. These providers are strictly prohibited from using your personal information for any purpose other than providing contracted services to us.
- Legal Requirements: If required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with a legal obligation, protect the rights or property of Prolaxies Ltd., or protect the safety of users of the App or the public.
5. Accuracy Disclaimer
Please note that the nutritional data and AI-generated responses are estimations. Due to the inherent limitations of AI technology, variability in food preparation, and the nature of publicly sourced data, the macro calculations and other information provided by the App may contain inaccuracies.
THE FOODSPECS APP IS FOR INFORMATIONAL AND GUIDANCE PURPOSES ONLY. It should not be used as a substitute for professional medical or dietary advice. You should always consult a qualified healthcare professional or registered dietitian before making any health decisions.
6. Children’s Privacy
The App is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected PII from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete such information from our files immediately.
7. Your Rights
You can delete your account at any time through the settings menu in the App. Upon deletion, your collected sign-in data will be permanently removed from our servers.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the “Last Updated” date. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
