Welcome to Bellix. This Privacy Policy explains how Prolaxies Ltd (“we,” “our,” or “us”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Bellix mobile application. We are committed to a “Zero-Persistence” privacy model, designed specifically to facilitate real-time communication without permanent tracking.
1. The Zero-Persistence Promise
Bellix is not a surveillance or evidence-storage system. All doorbell logs, chat metadata, audio call metadata, voice notes, and related temporary communication records are automatically and permanently deleted from our active systems within 24 hours. We do not maintain permanent histories of your interactions.
2. Information We Collect and Why
To provide our virtual doorbell service, we require temporary access to specific device features and data:
- Location Data (Foreground Only): We request location access strictly for a one-time proximity check when you scan a doorbell QR code or interact with a doorbell prompt.
- Proximity Verification: This verifies you are within the allowed range of the door.
- No Tracking: We do not track your location continuously.
- No Background Use: We do not use background location tracking.
- No Storage: We do not store a history of your GPS coordinates.
- Camera Access: Required solely to scan QR codes for door access.
- Local Processing: Images from the camera are processed locally on your device to read the code and are not recorded or transmitted to our servers.
- Microphone Access: Required to enable real-time VoIP (Voice over IP) audio calls and voice notes between visitors and owners.
- Live Audio: We do not listen to, record, or permanently store live audio call content.
- Account & Profile Data: If you create an account or join as a family member, we temporarily store necessary authentication data to identify your access level.
3. Prominent Disclosure & Device Permissions
Before accessing your Camera, Microphone, or Location, Bellix will provide a clear, in-app disclosure explaining the exact purpose of these permissions. You maintain full control and can revoke these permissions at any time through your device settings; however, core functionality (like ringing the bell or speaking to a visitor) will be restricted without them.
4. How We Process and Store Data
We utilize third-party infrastructure, primarily Google Firebase, to operate the app safely and efficiently:
- Firebase Cloud Messaging: Used to deliver push notifications to your device when the bell is rung or a call is initiated. This requires the generation of a temporary device token.
- Cloud Firestore & Firebase Storage: Used to temporarily route text messages, call signaling data (WebRTC), and media/voice notes.
- TTL Policy: All such data is subject to our strict 24-hour Time-To-Live (TTL) automatic deletion policy.
5. Data Sharing and Third Parties
We respect your privacy. Prolaxies Ltd does not sell your personal data, communication logs, or location data to advertisers, data brokers, or third-party trackers. Data is only shared with our infrastructure providers strictly for the purpose of making the app function securely.
6. Security
We implement reasonable and industry-standard security measures, including encryption in transit, to protect the temporary data flowing through Bellix. However, no digital system is 100% secure. You are responsible for securing your own device, screen lock, and account credentials.
7. Legal and Emergency Limitations
Because Bellix automatically deletes data within 24 hours, we cannot fulfill user or law enforcement requests to recover deleted chats, audio call records, or doorbell logs after the 24-hour window has passed. Bellix is a convenience tool, not a substitute for emergency services or permanent physical security.
8. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our app, legal requirements, or security practices. Any updates will be reflected inside the app. Continued use of Bellix indicates your acceptance of the updated policy.
